Summer Placements
Undergraduate Research Placements
There are many opportunities to gain valuable hands on experience and insight into working in a research or industry environment during your undergraduate studies. Some degrees include a "sandwich" placement year. These placements are typically between your 2nd and 3rd year and allow you to develop essential lab skills.
Shorter, summer placements are also an option. These are typically 6-8 weeks long over a summer holiday.
Below is a selection of organisations offering a variety of placements opportunities.
Key Details:
- Applications may need to be submitted by the supervisor, not the student.
- Both the supervisor and/or student may need to be members of the relevant society (though this is not always required).
- Placements can be taken at universities other than your own.
It’s a good idea to consult your supervisor for additional funding opportunities, including internal university grants. Always review the criteria before applying.
